Utah eLearning Connection
Utah System of
Higher Education Consortium

The Utah eLearning Connection gives students the freedom to take distance education courses from any of the nice public colleges and universisites that shape the Utah System of Highere Educaiton. A single account ($35 application fee) allows you to enroll in the distance learning courses from 9 Utah colleges and universities. The loss of transfer credit and other administrative hurdles associated with taking classes at multiple schools are virtually eliminated.

In the UEC catalog, you'll find hundreds of distance learning courses delivered using innovative technologies, designed to fit the busy schedules of today's learners. Courses are delivered online, broadcast over your TV, on CD, in print, or via satellite and interactive teleconferencing.

Many courses found in the UEC catalog fill general education and/or graduation requirements. Some classes follow a semester calendar and others are open-entry, open-exit. Some courses require you to "attend" class at a certain time or be in a certain location. Other formats allow you to determine when and where you want to "go to class."

Did you know ...

  • You can take a class anywhere there is an Internet connection, a VCR, or U S Mail delivery. The UEC serves students along the Wastach Front as well as some pretty remote locations where traveling to a campus is not a viable option.

  • You can complete nearly 40 certificates and degrees entirely at a distance.

  • The UEC serves students in 27 Utah counties as well as 49 other states and three foreign countries.

Academics. All of the colleges and universities are fully accredited. Distance delivered classes are generally taught by the same faculty who teach on campus. You can earn a degree or take individual courses transferable to all Utah public colleges and universities (always consult an academic advisor about whether the credits you earn will apply to your degree).

Admissions. When you complete a UEC account you select one of the partner schools for your home college. The home college provides you with student services including academic advising, assessment, and financial aid counseling. Apply online: Complete a UEC application and pay the onetime $35.00 application fee. Some colleges will require high school transcripts and college placement test scores. UEC staff will notify you if these things are needed.

Financial Aid and Scholarships.Students can use financial aid for distance learning courses; however, there are unique conditions. Contact your home college financial aid office for details.

Campus life. Our students have a life of their own. They work. They raise children. They live in Logan, Salt Lake, and St. George. And Fillmore, and Callao, and Enterprise, and La Verkin. Taking a distance delivered class enables them to continue their education ... without a campus.

Housing. You provide the housing; UEC will take care of delivering classes to your address.

Campus Tour. Tour our website for information about distance education classes and student services resources available to students in the Utah System of Higher Education. Want to know more about distance learning? Call or email us. We’re here to answer your questions.
