The Utah System of Higher Education consists of ten public colleges and universities. The office employs over 200 individuals who engage in a range of activities that support Utah's higher education.

Staff within the Office of the Commissioner for Higher Education (OCHE) gathers system data for the Board of Regents and for legislative analysts, oversees higher education’s budget, and facilitates academic affairs among system institutions.

Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority (UHEAA) staff administers a range of student financial aid programs including the Utah Educational Savings Plan (UESP), student loan programs, and tuition assistance programs.
