Program Description
Teaching Ambassador Fellowship Fellowship to help teachers learn policy and grow as leaders, opportunity to contribute to national education dialogue on public education. Up to 20 Classroom Fellows will be chosen who remain at their local schools under their regular teaching contracts, and will provide their experience and perspectives to the Department through various assignments and projects part-time.
Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative The Teacher-to-Teacher Initiative was designed by teachers for teachers in order to provide technical support, professional development opportunities, and recognition for teachers of all content areas and grade levels.
Improving Teacher Quality State Grants The purpose of the program is to increase academic achievement by improving teacher and principal quality. This program is carried out by: increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in classrooms. They must be based on a needs assessment, and, among other things, be aligned with state academic content standards, student academic achievement standards, and state assessments (for formula grants).
Teaching American History The program is designed to raise student achievement by improving teachers' knowledge and understanding of and appreciation for traditional U.S. history. Grant awards will assist LEAs, in partnership with entities that have content expertise, to develop, document, evaluate, and disseminate innovative and cohesive models of professional development. By helping teachers to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of U.S. history as a separate subject matter within the core curriculum, these programs will improve instruction and raise student achievement.
Ready-to-Teach Grant Program The purpose of this program is to carry out a national telecommunications-based program to improve teaching in core curricular areas. The program is designed to assist elementary and secondary school teachers in preparing all students to achieve challenging state academic content and student academic achievement standards in core curricular areas.
